About Jeffrey

Jeffrey Rittenhouse is a writer from southeastern Pennsylvania. He is drawn to stories about ordinary people carrying extraordinary secrets, and the quiet places where love and sacrifice meet.

A small-town library where a key comes back on Christmas Eve. A hunting cabin in the Maine woods. A cruise ship that refuses to behave. A third-floor apartment where a woman sews coral silk by lamplight. His books run from the warmly comic Grumpy Old Man series and the cozy Lost and Found Library Mysteries to The Cabin by the Deep Lake and The Good Girl, a story about the courage to leave and a love that holds without gripping.

He is at work on the next one.

Questions readers ask

Where should I start with Jeffrey Rittenhouse's books?

For a gentle small-town mystery, start with Rose's Ring, book one of the Lost and Found Library Mysteries. For something funny, start with The Hobby (Vera Crus) or The Grumpy Old Man. For a family saga, start with Where the Bluestem Grows.

What order should I read the Lost and Found Library Mysteries in?

Rose's Ring, then Rhoda's Recipe, then Vivian's Key. Each mystery stands on its own, but Vivian's Key answers questions the first two raise.

What order are the Vera Crus Funny Cozy Mysteries in?

The Hobby, The Jackpot, The Opener, The Write Off, The Stitch, The Lights.

Are the books clean?

The cozy mysteries, the Grumpy Old Man books, the Pickled Egg, Bluestem, Sofia and Ethan and the PIP books have no graphic violence, no explicit scenes and no rough language. The Lost and Found Library Mysteries have no murders at all. The thrillers are darker; each book page says what kind of story it is.

Where can I buy the books?
